Non-regulated professions

Do you plan to use your university degree to work in a non-regulated profession? Apply directly to job offers in Germany. Not every employer requests a Statement of Comparability. 

• Use the website Anerkennung in Deutschland to check if your profession is not regulated. 
• You can find out more about regulated and non-regulated professions here. 

Secondary school qualifications

Do you not have a university degree but a secondary school qualification and plan to do vocational training in Germany? Apply for recognition at the recognition office for secondary school qualifications in your (future) state of residence in Germany.

• To find your recognition office, visit our database anabin and go to "Anerkennungs- und Beratungsstellen in Deutschland." Click on the tab "Suchen nach anderen Stellen" and from the drop-down menu "Alle Zuständigkeiten" select "Zeugnisanerkennung."

Do you not have a university degree but a secondary school qualification and plan to study at a university in Germany? Apply directly at the university of your choice.

Vocational qualifications

Do you plan to work in a profession that is a vocational qualification in Germany? Contact the office responsible for your profession to find out if you can apply for a Certificate of Equivalence for your qualification. 

• Use the website Anerkennung in Deutschland to find the office responsible for your profession.  

Vocational school qualifications

Does your degree correspond to a German vocational school qualification? Apply for recognition at the recognition office for vocational school qualifications in your (future) state of residence in Germany.

Find out which German professions you can work in with your qualification: 

• Visit the Federal Employment Agency's website BERUFENET and go to "Berufsfelder" and "Tätigkeitsfelder" to search for professions yourself or make a career counseling appointment at the Federal Employment Agency or at an IQ-Netzwerk office.
